Who we are

Civio is a civic intelligence company. We exist to close the information gap between what government does and what citizens understand — using AI, official data, and design that respects people's time.

The problem we're solving

Government produces over 100,000 bills per year across federal, state, and municipal levels. The tools that track this legislation were built for lobbyists, policy teams, and government relations professionals — at prices between $8,000 and $20,000 per year.

258 million American adults who vote, pay taxes, and are directly affected by this legislation have nothing. GovTrack.us was built in 2004. News organizations cover only the most dramatic federal legislation, with editorial framing baked in. Social media amplifies the loudest voices, not the most accurate ones.

The opacity of government is not a political problem. It's a technology and design problem. No one has built the consumer layer.

What we built

Civio is a real-time civic intelligence feed. Enter your address, and Civio automatically resolves your city, county, state, and congressional district. From that moment forward, you see a personalized feed of legislation that actually affects where you live — summarized in plain English by AI trained exclusively on official government data.

Every bill card is designed for instant comprehension: one sentence, three bullet points, a sentiment bar showing what other citizens think, and a direct link to the official .gov source. Tap to go deeper: status history, representative votes, contact information.

Alerts notify you within minutes when bills move — introduced, through committee, passed, signed into law, or vetoed.

How we operate

We are non-partisan by design, not by policy. Our AI summarization prompt explicitly prohibits opinion language, emotional framing, and any characterization of legislation as good or bad. Every summary links to the official government source. We do not accept advertising, sell user data, or allow political organizations to target our users.

Revenue comes from Civio Premium — users who want more features, more jurisdictions, and SMS alerts — and from B2B API licensing to newsrooms, civic nonprofits, and libraries. The product works only if users completely trust the neutrality of the information. That trust is the entire value proposition.
