Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Civio mobile application or website (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. You must be at least 13 years old to use Civio.

2. What Civio Is

Civio provides automated summaries of publicly available government legislation, sourced exclusively from official government (.gov) databases. Civio is an information tool — not a news outlet, legal service, financial advisor, or political platform.

• Not legal advice. Nothing in Civio constitutes legal advice. Consult a licensed attorney for legal questions.
• Not political advocacy. Civio does not endorse any candidate, party, or political position.
• Not comprehensive. Summaries may not capture all nuances of legislation. Always verify important information at the official .gov source linked in the app.
• Not a substitute for professional advice. Do not make legal, financial, medical, or other decisions based solely on Civio summaries.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at security@civio.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. You may not share your account with others. One account per person. You may not impersonate another person or entity.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Harass, defame, threaten, or intimidate any person
• Attempt to access systems or data beyond your authorization
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or copy Civio's AI summaries at scale for commercial purposes
• Use Civio for political advertising, campaign activities, or voter suppression
• Submit false information during registration
• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service

5. Civic Feedback

Users may cast support or oppose votes on any bill. Votes are aggregated and displayed publicly as percentages. You may not vote on behalf of others or use automated tools to cast votes. Optional comments are subject to moderation and may be removed for violations of these Terms. You retain responsibility for any content you submit.

6. Premium Subscriptions

Civio Premium is available at $6/month or $54/year. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You may cancel at any time through your account settings or through the App Store / Google Play. Refunds are subject to the applicable platform's refund policy. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

7. In-App Purchases

In-app purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Civio does not store payment card information. All billing disputes must be directed to the applicable platform. All purchases are final except as required by applicable law or platform policy.

8. Intellectual Property

Civio's AI-generated summaries, design, software, and branding are owned by Civio, Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws. The underlying government legislation text is in the public domain. You may share individual bill summaries with attribution to Civio and a link to the official .gov source. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of Civio content without express written permission.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. CIVIO DOES NOT WARRANT THAT SUMMARIES ARE COMPLETE, ACCURATE, CURRENT, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. ALWAYS VERIFY LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION AT THE OFFICIAL .GOV SOURCE. CIVIO IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ACTIONS TAKEN OR NOT TAKEN BASED ON INFORMATION IN THE SERVICE.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CIVIO, INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF CIVIO HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL CIVIO'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO CIVIO IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Civio, Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

12. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through Profile → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days per our Privacy Policy. Sections 7–12 survive termination.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

14. Changes to These Terms

We will notify you of material changes via email and in-app notice at least 30 days before changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
